Signing of a contract for the "Hosting in Cloud Infrastructure and Telecommunications Interconnection of the National Open Transport Data Platform" for full coverage and digitization of the main urban and interurban road network of Cyprus.
Specifically, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announced that on Friday, August 26, 2022, the contract for the "Hosting in Cloud Infrastructure and Telecommunications Interconnection of the National Open Transport Data Platform" was signed with CSF contract number/16/2022, between the Department of Public Works (Sustainable Mobility Sector) and Cablenet Communication Systems Ltd. the Ann. Director of the Department of Public Works Mrs. Eleni Kaskiri and, on behalf of the contractor company, Mr. Thomas Choplanros.
The Contract provides for:
• the supply of Cloud infrastructure, in which the Traffic Monitoring and Management Platform will be installed,
• the development of a telecommunications network to which the approximately 120 existing traffic meters, 26 closed circuit surveillance cameras and four electronic signs will be connected, as well as new equipment that will be financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF) and includes 40 electronic information signs, 170 traffic surveillance cameras and 180 meters.
The above uninterrupted telecommunications service is offered through Cablenet's reliable telecommunications infrastructure and networks, being the most modern and cost-effective solution for the operation requirements of the Traffic Monitoring and Management Platform.
With the installation and interconnection of the above systems, the full coverage and digitization of the main urban and interurban road network of Cyprus will be achieved by offering an integrated Traffic Monitoring and Management Platform. Through this platform, the better management of transport networks by the responsible bodies and the rapid response to incidents, the provision of information to network users and individuals for the development of navigation applications, as well as the provision of data to research or university institutions for research and development purposes will be achieved.
This contract, worth approximately €300,000 plus VAT, is funded by National Funds and has a service duration of sixty months.
