A chain of Georgians who, as soon as they came to Cyprus, began the burglaries and thefts from apartments and even sent the stolen goods to their country.
However, the Burglary Unit of the Nicosia ICF, after thorough investigations, located the packages with the stolen goods in Greece on their way to Georgia and stopped them, while actions are being taken to return them to Cyprus. The Police estimate that they are facing a chain that came to Cyprus last May with the sole aim of carrying out burglaries and thefts and then leaving without being caught.
Recently in Nicosia there have been repeated allegations of burglaries and thefts of apartments and the theft of various valuables. Various tests were carried out to identify the perpetrators to no avail. Recently, members of the Nicosia burglary team located a suspicious vehicle, they followed it, resulting in reaching the traces of the spiral. They proceeded to arrest the three youngsters from Georgia, while an investigation found that they appear to be involved in the burglaries that occurred recently in various premises.
It was also found that a large part of the stolen goods may have been sent in packages for their country, resulting in lightning-fast moves to locate and stop them so that they would not reach their destination. The packages were found at the offices of a transport company in Greece and blocked so that actions could be taken to return them to Cyprus. Even these investigators do not know exactly what the packages include and when they will be expected to return here so that the owners of the apartments can be called to identify them.
Yesterday, the three Georgians were brought before the District Court of Nicosia, which renewed their detention for another six days until the police completed the investigations.
In the meantime, the arrest of a second suspect for committing a series of investigated cases of thefts, in the Nicosia district. This is a 25-year-old man, who is allegedly involved in 16 cases of theft of property from various warehouses and buildings under construction, in the area of responsibility of the Pera Chorio Police Station. The thefts were committed between April and June, 2022. Among other things, fuel, vehicle batteries, catalysts and scaffolding were stolen. A 31-year-old man is being held for the same cases.
