The district of Paphos holds the scepter in the visitors of the recreation centres due to the English market, according to the president of the Pancyprian Federation of Owners of Recreation Centres of Cyprus, Fytos Thrasyvoulou, recording percentages of 75%.
In his statements, Mr. Thrasyvoulou said that in Nicosia the traffic in the recreation centres is reduced during the month of July, noting that the owners of the recreation centres in the capital estimate that the situation will recover. Regarding the coastal areas, Mr. Thrasyvoulou said that in Paphos the traffic reaches 75%, in the free areas of Famagusta it is a little further behind at 60%, in Larnaca it is also at 60% and in Nicosia and Limassol at 70%.
Regarding the labour force, Mr. Thrasyvoulou said that a solution was found by the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, but spoke of the delay of the Immigration Department in order to give entry permits to citizens. He pointed out that OSIKA contacted the Ministry of Interior and it appeared that there is a staffing problem especially in Paphos. He also expressed the hope that the problem would be resolved soon.
Mr. Thrasyvoulou sent the message to the members of OSIKA to keep prices, where they can, for Cypriot visitors during the month of August due to the pandemic, the situation prevailing in the tourism industry and the rapid increase in prices.
Finally, he described this year as difficult as there is no stability in prices nor in operating expenses.
