The Municipality of Paphos organized this morning an environmental cleaning of the seabed at the Municipal Baths, in collaboration with the Cydive Diving Center and the Association of Winter Swimmers Vrysouthkia Kelpetri. The aim of the event was to clean the seabed for clean seas and a better tidy environment.
The event that sends the message of love for the environment has become an institution in recent years on a regular basis and reminds us of our duty to protect our environment.
The event was attended by trained twenty divers who dived with oxygen for 45 minutes in order to collect garbage and remove it from the sea.
The Inspector of Beaches of the Municipality of Paphos, Mr. Yiannis Stavrinou, said that the beaches of the Municipality of Paphos are organized, with adequate equipment and staffing and are at a very good level both in terms of services and in terms of tourism.
In relation to the cleanliness of the beaches that fall under the Municipality of Paphos, Mr. Stavrinou said that they are at an excellent level in terms of cleanliness due to the daily efforts made by the Municipality of Paphos and due to the fact that Paphos is a tourist city and because of the love for the environment.
In a greeting addressed by Paphos Mayor Phedonas Phedonos during the event, he stressed that the Municipality of Paphos encourages such initiatives and congratulated the winter swimmers and the Cydive Diving Center for the effort. He also expressed his satisfaction that this year Paphos has the cleanest beaches.
This is also confirmed by the fact that 6 beaches of the Municipality of Paphos were awarded the Blue Flag in May.
The owner of the Cydive Diving Center, Fotos Socratous, and the president of the Vrysouthkia Kelpetri Winter Swimmers Association Andreas Grigoriadis also addressed a greeting, noting both the importance of protecting the beaches and the natural environment of the city and province of Paphos, so that we, and the thousands of foreign tourists who visit us every year, can enjoy it.
