Filenews 6 July 2022
In recent times, there has been a systematic sending of misleading messages to citizens, by so-called banking institutions, inviting the public to contact specific phone numbers.
According to an announcement by the Police, the content of the misleading messages states that credit or debit cards have been deactivated and for security purposes they call citizens to call specific phone numbers (in order to extract information), which although they have an eight-digit Cyprus number, are in fact fake numbers.
Indicative numbers and photo of a misleading message:
26068698, 26749736, 26485342, 26000566, 26198528, 26632670.
The public is urged to be especially careful, not to respond to such messages, and in case they receive such a message, to contact the official number of the organization or its banking institution.
