A criminal case was registered today in the District Court of Nicosia, for the purpose of referring it to the Assize Court, which concerns both a report by the journalistic network Al Jazeera, as well as events in the context of the exceptional naturalizations of foreign investors and businessmen, based on the finding prepared by the Nicolatos Committee.
According to today's announcement by the Legal Service, "four natural persons will be brought before the Courts. The indictment consists of five charges, relating to conspiracy offenses to defraud the Republic and influence a public official in violation of the Law that ratifies the Council of Europe Convention on the Criminalization of Corruption."
It is noted that "the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General draw attention to the necessity of avoiding disclosure of sensitive details of the case for the purpose of protecting all proceedings, safeguarding the rights of the accused (including the presumption of innocence) and complying with the legislation on the protection of personal data. "
