From September 1, the operation of the afternoon Outpatient Clinics begins, according to the Minister of Health, Michalis Hatzipantelas.
Their operation will also include the conduct of surgeries related to scheduled cases, with the Minister of Health expressing the belief that any waiting lists will be reduced and eliminated, with the signing of the Agreement with the SHSO, for the performance of surgical procedures during the afternoon hours. The afternoon opening hours of the hospitals will concern the period 15:00 – 18:00 on working days.
At the same time, the Minister of Health expressed his particular joy and deep satisfaction for the Agreement, which was reached as he noted through a constructive and lucrative dialogue of all stakeholders, for the operation of the program of the afternoon work of the clinics of public hospitals.
He also referred to the strategic aspirations of the Ministry of Health. According to Michalis Hatzipantelas, "the Ministry of Health, in the context of its strategic goals, for the rational management of expenditure and human resources in Public Health, with the aim of increasing the range and quality of health services offered and reducing waiting lists, had developed and implemented for four years from 2016 to January 31, 2020, Pilot Program aimed at reducing waiting lists, offering health care and services of more than 282,080 patients."
In conclusion, he expressed his warm thanks to the Director General who, as noted by the Minister of Health, undertook the process and the organization of the agreement on surgical procedures as chairman of the Ad-hoc committee. He also thanked the O.K.Y. as well as all the Health Professionals and the "support staff, who will contribute to the implementation of this Agreement for the success of the whole program, always within the framework of the principles of respect for the rights of our patients".
