2,629 APPLICATIONS FOR MOTORCYCLE EQUIPMENT - ELECTRONIC DRAW TO TAKE PLACE

 Filenews 7 July 2022

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces the completion of the application process for the Grant Scheme for the Purchase of Protective Equipment for Motorcyclists. 2,629 applications have been submitted for a grant for the purchase of a motorcyclist's airbag body, of which 153 are for the low power category. The number of applications is considered particularly encouraging, and proves that motorcyclists understand the necessity of using additional equipment for their safety on the road network.

Due to the greater than the predetermined number of applications, an electronic draw will be held in the coming days and the applicants who will receive pre-approval will be informed electronically (email) or by text message (sms) or by post. The exact date and time of the draw will be announced shortly.

The applicants who will receive preliminary approval will then be given a period of 3 months from the date of issue of the pre-approval, for the submission of the supporting documents for the purchase of equipment and payment account details for the payment of the grant. Applicants who will secure pre-approval, but will not make a purchase or will not submit the necessary data and documents within the specified timeframes, will not receive the subsidy and the right will be given to runners-up.

In a written statement, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yiannis Karousos, expresses satisfaction for the great interest expressed by motorcyclists. "The Plan falls under the strategy and policies implemented by the Ministry of Transport in cooperation with the Road Safety Council, to improve the conditions on the road network for the protection of all users. Our goal is to provide the tools that will ensure maximum protection for motorcyclists, as the most vulnerable group of road users. The improvement of road behaviour and the cultivation of the right culture on the road network, is equally the responsibility of the State, society and each individual citizen ", notes Mr. Karousos.
