Filenews 29 June 2022
The Department of Antiquities of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that, as of Thursday, June 30, 2022, underwater works will be carried out for the promotion of the ancient port of Amathus, in the framework of a European cross-border program with the acronym ANDIKAT.
According to an announcement, this work will last no later than July 7, 2022. The project aims to promote the underwater archaeological and natural heritage, through the creation of diving routes in marine protected areas in Greece and Cyprus.
Bathers in the area of the ancient port are urged to be particularly careful and avoid the areas where work is carried out, for which there is proper signage in the sea and warning signs on land. The public is kindly requested not to move antiquities that may exist on the seabed or markings that have been placed in the context of the project. The work will continue throughout July and the Department of Antiquities will return with a new communiqué.
The Department of Antiquities apologizes in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused.
