Milliyet writes that some of the islands that Turkey can claim because of militarization are Rhodes, Samos, Chios and 6 other islands.
For her part, Yeni Safak says 22 of the 23 islands are militarized and pose a "threat to Turkey", while only Halki is demilitarized.
Moreover, the same publication mentions that Turkey has the sovereignty of 9 islands (such as Lemnos, Lesvos, Samos, Chios, Ikaria, Rhodes) and that in Greece... the right of use has been granted.
Commenting on the barrage of provocative reports, Manos Karagiannis, Associate Professor of International Security at Kings College London, estimated speaking on the show "Now What Happens" at THE OPEN that Turkey is preparing a climate and said that "we will have great tensions. We will definitely have overflights and maritime tensions."
