In 15 seizures of large motorcycles and three vehicles proceeded the Limassol Traffic Police in the framework of a campaign conducted by the new group of motorcyclists of the Traffic Police. The campaign took place throughout the city with an emphasis on the coastal front and in places where fatal traffic accidents had occurred before. Yesterday at around 20.30 in the evening during a check that was taking place on the road of the new port, the motorcyclists of the Limassol Traffic Police stopped a large motorcycle which was driven by a 32-year-old man. Due to the fact that the 32-year-old smelled strongly of alcohol, the group of motorcyclists asked him to give an exhalation sample. The 32-year-old reacted and attacked the police. He was subsequently arrested for concern, public insult and resistance to lawful arrest. He was taken to the offices of the Limassol Traffic Police where a final breathalyser test was carried out with an indication of 55 mg while a narcotest test tested positive for cannabis. The motorcycle was detained as a presumption in the Limassol traffic police while the 32-year-old, after being charged in writing, was released to be later summoned before a court. |
