Following EU sanctions imposed on Russian oligarch Alexei Mordasov on February 28, 2022 as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, he is trying to save his assets.

Specifically, the Russian oligarch, the second richest man in Russia with a net fortune of $22.3 billion, transferred $1.1 billion in shares to the Tui travel group amid the global imposition of sanctions on a company in the British Virgin Islands controlled by Marina Mordasova, his third wife.
The transfer of the shares from the Cypriot company coincided with the day the Russian oligarch was included in the EU sanctions list. Mordasov held his stake inTui through Unifirm based in Cyprus, a company that in turn belongs to companies controlled by Mordasov and his sons.
Reportedly, the 29.87% stake of Tui, which has double listings on the stock exchange in Frankfurt and London, was sold to Ondero , based in the British Virgin Islands, which is linked to the oligarch. Prior to the sale of the stock, Mordasov was Tui's top shareholder, with a 34% stake, and had been a shareholder for about 15 years, according to a press release released by Tui shortly after the European Union imposed sanctions. Mordasov resigned from Tui's board of directors on March 2. The remaining 4.13% had been sold to the Russian investment vehicle of the businessman, Severgroup llc.
It is noted that the transfer of shares to the Registrar of Companies is presented on March 29, 2022. Specifically, ruMordasov's subsidiaries KN-Holding LLC and Rayglow Limited sold their shares of Unifirm Limited to Ondero Limited.
