The largest coastal pedestrian street in Cyprus will soon be an event and will be located in Pegeia. Already, the procedures for its creation are progressing, with the announcement of the tender for the project, according to the Mayor of Pegeia. Marinos Lambrou said in particular that the coastal pedestrian street of Pegeia will be an urban planning project costing €2.5 million.
The first phase of the project, said Mr. Lambrou, will be two kilometres long and will be part of the wider coastal pedestrian street that starts from the marina area in Potima and will end at the port of Agios Georgios in Pegeia, covering a total distance of 14 km along the coast.
"In the first phase," he noted, "the construction of an amphitheatre, an outdoor gym, a basketball court, a kiosk and a playground are planned. This is a very important project that will upgrade the Municipality of Pegeia. The completion of the project is estimated at 18 months.
The Mayor of Pegeia also said that the Municipality of Pegeia proceeded this year with a large-scale project on asphalt pavements in the municipal area, costing one million euros.
