 Filenews 26 April 2022

The presence of the Police on the road network during the Easter holidays was more intense, with the aim of preventing fatal and serious road collisions during the festive four-day period. Specifically, during the Easter holidays, a total of 525 drivers were reported for various traffic offences, some of which are the main causes of fatal road collisions.

Through a specific action plan, the presence of the members of the Traffic Police was more intense both on the urban and interurban roads, as well as on the secondary road network. The aim of the campaign was primarily to prevent serious road collisions, but also to provide traffic facilities to the public.

From the traffic police checks carried out by the members of the Police, it became possible to identify and put off the road, drivers and vehicles, which could potentially be considered a threat to the safety of other road users.

Specifically, during the Easter holidays, a total of 525 drivers were reported for various traffic offences, some of which are the main causes of fatal road collisions.

Specifically, 21 drivers who were spotted driving under the influence of alcohol and another 19 who appeared to have used drugs before sitting at the wheel were put off the road. 225 drivers were also reported for driving at speeding.

Police checks on the entire road network continue daily, with the main aim of reducing as much as possible the collisions on our roads.
