There have been 1114 deaths of persons diagnosed with coronavirus, according to data provided through the National Report by the Ministry of Health by April 13. Most of the deaths were recorded in Limassol.
59.4% concern men (n=680 deaths) and the remaining 40.6% concern women (n=464 deaths).
Of the 1144 deaths, 986 (86%) had an underlying cause of COVID-19. 59.3% of the total number of deaths with the underlying cause of COVID-19 is for men (n=585 deaths) and the remaining 40.7% concerns women (n=401 deaths).
50% of the total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 concern people aged 70-86 years, with a median age of death of 79 years and an average age of 76.8 years.
As of April 1– 13, 2022, the total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 reached 39, of which 31 (79%) had an underlying cause of death, COVID-19.
It is noteworthy that 4 out of 10 deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 for the month of April 2022, concern people aged 60 years and over without a history of vaccination.
The total number of deaths of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in the month of January 2022 (n=111, 9.7%) exceeded August 2021 (n=107, 9.4%), February 2022 (n=100, 8.7%) and January 2021 (n=97, 8.5%). It is followed by December 2020 (n=90, 7.9%), March 2022 (n=76, 6.6%), April 2021 with a percentage of 6.6% (n=75), May 2021 with a percentage of 5.9% (n=68) and July 2021 with a percentage of 5.3% (n=61).
The highest percentage of deaths of people positive to COVID-19, with the underlying cause of death being COVID-19, concerns people with permanent residence in the Limassol District (n=345, 35.0%). They are followed by Nicosia District (n=309, 31.3%), Larnaca District (n=178, 18.1%), Paphos District (n=88, 8.9%), Famagusta District (n=58, 5.9%), 3 deaths have an Undetermined Permanent Residence District (0.3%) and 5 deaths concern residents abroad (0.5%).
