2,457 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Thursday 7 April

The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 7, 2022, two people have died from coronavirus, while 2,457 new cases have been identified.

Specifically:

  • 2 deaths reported
  • They concern:
    • Man, aged 74, who ended up on April 6
    • Man, aged 52, who ended up on April 7
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 952.
  • 208 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 30 in serious condition (ICU: 2 out of snorkel/5 intubated, PPE: 23)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 60.1%
  • 15 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 79,334 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 2,457 new cases were identified (total cases 452,172).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 3.1%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 2,945 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 218 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 7.4%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 76,389 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 2,239 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.93%

 Tracking:

  • 213 molecular tests were performed and 18 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 8.45%)
  • 436 rapid antigen tests were performed and 46 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 10.55%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,192 molecular tests were performed, 156 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 13.09%)
  • 30,809 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,501 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 4.87%)

Through the health ministry's programs, 45,580 rapid antigen tests were performed. 738 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 12,880 rapid detection tests identified 523 positive cases (positivity rate 4.06%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 18,478 rapid antigen tests, 85 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.46%)
  • Secondary Education: 9,018 rapid screening tests identified 30 positive cases (positivity rate 0.33%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 3,031 rapid antigen tests were performed and 25 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.82%)
  • Special Schools: 150 rapid antigen tests were performed and positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.33%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 1,289 rapid antigen tests were performed, 22 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.71%)
  • Closed structures: 298 rapid antigen tests were performed, 5 new cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.68%).
