2,028 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS - Friday 8 April

Three people have died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 to 974, while 2,028 new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 454,200, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday.

In its announcement, the competent Ministry says that the positivity rate is 2.51%.

The three deaths relate to an 85-year-old man who died on April 8, an 87-year-old woman who died on April 8 and an 80-year-old woman who died on April 8.

A total of 202 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, 24 in serious condition. In ICU hospitalized 3 off ventilator and 4 intubated, while 17 patients are hospitalized in PPE.

The percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination is 59.41%.

Fifteen patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

A total of 80,771 diagnostic tests were performed.

Of the 2,997 molecular tests, 188 positive cases emerged, with the positivity rate standing at 6.27%.

77,774 rapid antigen tests were performed and 1,840 positive cases were found, with a positivity rate of 2.37%

Through tracing, 155 molecular tests were performed and 20 positive cases were identified, with the positivity rate at 12.9%.

487 rapid antigen tests were performed and 56 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 11.5%).

The Private Initiative conducted 1,047 molecular tests, identified 114 positive cases (positivity rate 10.89%).

30,852 rapid antigen tests were also performed and 1,230 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 3.99%).

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 46,922 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 610 positive cases were identified.

At the sampling points, 12,324 rapid detection tests were performed and 384 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 3.12%).

In Primary Education, 19,110 rapid antigen tests were performed, 91 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.48%).

In Secondary Education, 10,318 rapid screening tests were performed and 38 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.37%).

In addition, as part of the implementation of the Test-to-Stay measure, 2,641 rapid antigen tests were performed and 20 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.76%).

In Special Schools, 645 rapid antigen tests were performed and 5 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.78%).

In nursing homes, 966 rapid antigen tests were performed, 15 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.55%).

In closed structures, 431 rapid antigen detection tests were performed and 1 new case was identified (positivity rate 0.23%).
