1,764 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Saturday 9 April

The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 9, 2022:

  • 1 death was announced - man, aged 84, who died on April 9
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 975.
  • 201 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 26 in serious condition (ICU: 5 out of snorkel/3 intubated, PPE: 18)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 57.22%
  • 12 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 60,256 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,764 new cases were identified (total cases 455,964).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 2.93%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 2,745 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 147 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 5.36%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 57,511 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 1,617 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 2.81%

 Tracking:

  • 49 molecular tests were performed and 3 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.12%)
  • 423 rapid antigen tests were performed and 41 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 9.69%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,035 molecular tests were performed, 106 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 10.24%)
  • 32,431 rapid antigen tests were performed, 930 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.87%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 25,080 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 687 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 23,541 rapid detection tests identified 623 positive cases (positivity rate 2.65%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 757 rapid antigen tests were performed, 18 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 2.38%)
  • Closed structures: 359 rapid antigen tests were performed, 5 new cases were identified (positivity rate 1.39%).

From April 15, the announcement of positive diagnoses, deaths and hospitalizations will be made on a weekly basis.
