1,692 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Tuesday 12 April

The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 12, 2022, two people have died due to coronavirus, while 1,692 new cases have been identified.

Specifically:

  • 2 deaths reported
  • They concern - woman, aged 81, who died on April 12 and a woman, aged 88, who died on April 12
  • Total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19: 982.
  • 188 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 31 in serious condition (ICU: 4 out of the ventilator/5 intubated, PPE: 22)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 53.73%
  • 11 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 66,930 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,692 new cases were identified (total cases 461,369).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 2.53%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 3,056 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 194 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 6.35%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 63,874 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • 1,498 positive cases occurred
  • Positivity rate 2.35%

 Tracking:

  • 175 molecular tests were performed and 20 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 11.43%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,079 molecular tests were performed, 125 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 11.58%)
  • 21,568 rapid antigen tests were performed, 942 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 4.37%)

Through the health ministry's programmes, 42,306 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 556 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 10,045 rapid screening tests identified 423 positive cases (positivity rate 4.21%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 18,860 rapid antigen tests, 63 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.33%)
  • Secondary Education: 9,584 rapid screening tests identified 27 positive cases (positivity rate 0.28%)
  • Test-to-Stay: 2,134 rapid antigen tests were performed and 18 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.84%)

Other

  • Houses of well-being: 1,367 rapid antigen tests were performed, 25 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.83%)
  • Closed structures: 316 rapid antigen tests were performed, no new cases were detected (positivity rate 0%).

From April 15, the announcement of positive diagnoses, deaths and hospitalizations will be made on a weekly basis. The first weekly bulletin will be sent out on April 22.
