1,414 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Wednesday 13 April

Two people have died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 to 984, while 1,414 new cases of COVID-19 were identified on Wednesday by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 462,783. The positivity rate in the total number of tests is 2.6%.

According to the Ministry of Health, the two deaths relate to an 82-year-old woman who died today Wednesday and a woman, aged 83, who also died today.

In addition, 183 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 29 are in serious condition (ICU: 4 out of breath/7 intubated, PPE: 18).

The percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination is 48.09%.

In addition, 11 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, a total of 54,299 diagnostic tests were performed on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 2,659 molecular tests (PCR) were performed, which resulted in 172 positive cases. The positivity rate is 6.47%.

51,640 Rapid Antigen Tests were also performed, resulting in 1,242 positive cases. The positivity rate is 2.41%.

As part of the tracing, 104 molecular tests were performed and 7 positive cases were identified. The positivity rate is 6.73%.

From a private initiative, 1,067 molecular tests were performed, of which 132 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 12.37%), as well as 22,535 rapid antigen tests, of which 735 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 3.26%).

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 29,105 rapid antigen tests were performed, of which 507 positive cases were identified.

At the sampling points, 13,717 rapid screening tests were performed, of which 445 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 3.24%).

As far as Education is concerned, according to the Ministry of Health, in Secondary Education, 9,356 rapid detection tests were performed, of which 26 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.28%), in Test-to-Stay, 2,254 rapid antigen tests were performed and 20 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.89%), while in special Schools, 482 rapid antigen tests were performed and 2 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.41%).

In nursing homes, 1,091 rapid antigen tests were performed, of which 11 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.01%), while in closed structures, 2,205 rapid antigen tests were performed, of which 3 new cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.14%).

According to the Ministry of Health, the numbers mentioned in the announcement are indicative and may vary based on the final and updated data sent in the framework of the National Epidemiological Risk Report published every other Friday.

The Ministry recalls that from April 15, the announcement of positive diagnoses, deaths and hospitalizations will be made on a weekly basis. The first weekly bulletin will be sent out on April 22.
