In the past, people were divided into two military blocs. On the one hand the Warsaw Pact and on the other NATO. With the collapse of real socialism, the Warsaw Pact was dissolved and only the North Atlantic alliance remained.
For many years NATO has been the master of the game. Russia was a country that had inherited the Soviet Union's nuclear arsenal and its conventional powers, but for some time it could not intervene on the international stage – like NATO – due to economic and not only problems.
