Due to snowfall, the roads to Troodos (Platres – Troodos, Karvounas – Troodos, Prodromos – Troodos) are open only for vehicles equipped with snow chains or with 4-wheel drive. At the same time, dense fog also prevails in the area.
The Police appeal to the drivers as they are especially careful.

According to the warning, very strong to strong southwesterly winds to westerly winds of intensity 6-7 Beaufort, are expected to affect intermittently some areas of the mountainous and inland.
At the same time, winds of the same direction of windy intensity 8 Beaufort, with gusts locally up to 9 Beaufort, will intermittently affect the north and south coasts.
The warning is in effect from 23:00 on Wednesday night until 15:00 noon on Thursday.

Tonight the weather will be at times mostly cloudy and local rains are expected without excluding the possibility of an isolated storm, mainly in the western half of the island. During the early morning hours snow or sleet is likely to fall in the higher mountains. Winds will blow initially southeast to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and in the west moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, to gradually become southwest to west moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, and later to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. In the morning hours on the windward coast will blow locally until strong, 7 Beaufort. The sea will initially be a little turbulent in both the west and the south until turbulent, while by the early hours of the morning it will become turbulent until undulating and in the east it will become turbulent. The temperature will drop to around 9 degrees in the interior, around 12 degrees on the coast and around 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where locally it is not excluded that frost will form. |
Tomorrow the weather will be intermittently cloudy and local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the western half of the island. In the higher mountains snowfall is expected. An improvement in the weather is expected in the afternoon. The winds will blow on the coast southwest to west very strong to severe, 6 to 7 Beaufort, and locally to windy, 8 Beaufort, with gusts that can reach 9 Beaufort. In the interior they will blow southwest to west initially moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, while soon they will become locally strong to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort, and temporarily to strong, 7 Beaufort. The sea will be on the windward coasts undulating until very undulating and locally very wavy to stormy while on the east coast it will be undulating. The temperature will rise to around 14 degrees in the interior, around 16 degrees on the coast and around 4 degrees in the higher mountains. |
Tomorrow night the weather will be at times partly cloudy and initially isolated rains are likely to fall. Winds will blow mainly west to northwest moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, and initially windward to very strong, 6 Beaufort. The sea will initially be turbulent until undulating and windward until too undulating to become later turbulent and windward until undulating. |
On Friday the weather will be at times partly cloudy. Over the weekend the weather will be partly cloudy and at times cloudy with the possibility of local rains falling, mainly on Sunday. |
