The hope that in the coming days the vaccination in adults with the Novavax vaccine will begin, expressed the Associate Professor of Pharmacy, Christos Petrou.
Speaking on state radio, he said that the quantity that has reached Cyprus is limited, around 22 to 23 thousand doses.
He added, however, that it is estimated that 10 to 12 thousand people will benefit. This vaccine is given in two doses.
Asked about the epidemiological picture, Mr. Petrou said that in recent weeks, around 2,000 cases per day have been steadily detected. The "Omikron" mutation, he noted, has not yet completed its cycle, but the transmission rate has dropped.
If this indicator, he concluded, stabilizes below the unit for quite some time, then we will move into a new phase of the pandemic.
