The continuous increase of the city's population, due to the great descent of many immigrants and asylum seekers, combined with the understaffing and increase of delinquency, has caused multiple problems in the Pafos district, the result of which is the large increase in theft of kiosks, bakeries and other minor violations recorded in recent times.
This is stressed by the MP of Pafos of DIKO, Chrysanthos Savvides, raising the issue of understaffing of the Pafos Police Department.
"The staffing problem of the Directorate," he says, "is huge since it operates with 80 police officers less than the necessary number. We hope that the Pafos Police will get its fair share of the new police graduation series, which ends on May 3rd."
If we consider the large percentage of understaffing of the Pafos district, he pointed out, I would like to believe that the Police Directorate will be staffed with a sufficient number of graduates of the Police Academy, so that it can better carry out its multidimensional work and restore the sense of security of the citizens.
"Knowing the interest and the action so far of the Chief of Police, Stylianos Papatheodorou, on issues concerning the security of society, I am sure that he will investigate responsibly the above issue and will strengthen Paphos with a significant number of new police officers.
