Moreover, the members of the Famagusta Traffic Police stopped at around 9.50p.m. yesterday for checking a motorcycle driven by a 19-year-old. During the arrest of his vehicle, the 19-year-old threw a piece of aluminium foil on the ground, which was found to contain a small amount of cannabis and was taken as evidence, while he was arrested for facilitating interrogations. Subsequently, in a body search, another quantity of cannabis was found in his possession, while in a preliminary sample he gave for narcotest testing, he tested positive for drugs.
In addition to the above, in another case in Nicosia, a motorcycle was spotted by a member of the Police, on which two persons were on board, being driven recklessly and dangerously, while it did not have registration plates. Immediately the member of the Police signalled the driver to stop. Instead the driver developed speed and tried to escape, and was then stopped. During the ensuing check, it was found that the driver was driving without holding a driver's license, while in his possession an opening knife was found, which was seized as evidence and he was arrested for facilitating the interrogations.
