The Mayor of Pafos, Phedonas Phaedonos, welcomes the issuance of planning permission in the short period of 11 days for the PREMISES of the CUT that will host the School of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship of the Cyprus University of Technology.
In a written statement, the Mayor of Pafos, Phedonas Phaedonos, said that on March 14, 2022, the Local Authority submitted with absolute legality the application for the planning permission at the headquarters of the Town Planning And in 11 days the permit was issued. We must continue to congratulate Mrs. Markela Hadjida Senior Officer who, along with her team and Kyriakos Koundouros, Director of the Department of Urban Planning, worked hard for its publication.
He also congratulated the architect of the project, Iraklis Papachristou, who during the period he was preparing the plans from November 2021 – in March 2022 – he simultaneously made all the consultations so that there is no flaw in the application and everything is ready. He also appreciated that the public sector and the state, when they want it, perform "miracles" in its expression.
Mr. Phaedonos said that the Municipality of Pafos proceeded with the securitization of a piece of land of 5,398 sq.m., right next to where the CUT facilities in Paphos will be built in order to build the student dormitories. The spaces that will be created he noted will be of affordable rent for the students of the new public University Faculty that will be created in Paphos.
He pointed out that for decades Pafos had been seeking to acquire a public University School. Indicatively, he noted that it has taken methodical work over the last five years to create the appropriate infrastructure in the city of Pafos and to implement the prerequisites to enable the establishment of a public University in the city. Finally, he estimated that their goal is for the facilities to be completed by July 2023.
It is noted that the presentation of the architectural plans for the premises of the School of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship of the Cyprus University of Technology in Paphos took place last Tuesday at the "Attikon" Multiplex by the consultants – scholars of the E. Papachristou Architects LLC Project.
