An image of a construction site is now seen at the point of the historic Carob Mills of Pafos by those passing by Apostolou Pavlou Avenue. The works for the conversion of the building complex, which has been given to the municipal authority by the state, into academia have already begun with the cleaning of the buildings by the Municipality of Pafos.
This will be followed by their conversion to the final form based on the procedures initiated by the Municipal Authority in order to host the American University of Beirut there from the new year, which was selected on the basis of the notice of interest made by the Municipality of Pafos.
The procedures were initiated in the last one year at a very fast pace, after the implementation of the commitment of President Anastasiades that the Government will grant the historic space for Pafos, so that it will be used accordingly by the municipal authority. Immediately, following this positive development, the Municipality of Pafos announced a call for interest for the removal of metal and other structures from the Building Complex of Carob Mills, a process which was also implemented quickly.
After the building preparation, the decisive step was recently taken in terms of the final development and promotion of the site, with the announcement of interest on the part of the municipal authority for the academic exploitation of the Carob Mills and finally with the works for the configuration of the area that is in progress.
The offer was submitted to the timelines set by this Lebanese university which all indicate that it will become by 2023 another academic residence in the city, after Neapolis University, the Faculty of Tourism Professions of CUT, Alexander College, CDA College and Pafos Innovation Institute.
