The Municipality of Geroskipou is proceeding with an upgrade of the coastal front, according to the mayor Kyriakos Hadjivasilis.
In his statements to the CNA, Mr. Hatzivasilis said that the Beach Committee in cooperation with the Municipal Council of Geroskipou drew up a program of actions for the preparation of the coastal area, especially the Municipal beach of Geroskipou, which, as he said, concerns the cleaning of large quantities of seaweed and the cleaning with a stone collector of the pebbles accumulated in large quantities.
Also further noted, the Municipality of Geroskipou will proceed to the usual maintenance of infrastructure, such as the cleaning of trees, pruning, painting, separation of the bathers' area from the wheeled vehicles, installation of access corridors of bathers to and from the beach, placement of umbrellas and sun beds and so on.
In relation to the coastal kiosks, the managers began, as Mr. Hatzivasilis mentioned, to prepare their premises and proceed to their renewal. He also added that an effort is being made to build the car park, but he estimated that it is somewhat difficult to build before the tourist season. He pointed out, however, that in September-October, the parking lot is expected to be prepared.
He also said that further actions are being taken to improve the access of the road that passes through the coastal area, while the street lighting will be extended up to the final border of this road and the enhancement of the greenery with tree planting where needed.
Moreover, he stressed, gymnastic equipment will be installed, while the design includes the creation of two small sports in the area.
