CYPRUS REMAINS IN THE 'FRIDGE'

The cold air mass continues to prevail in Cyprus, affecting the island in recent days, with the temperatures recorded being much lower for the season. 

Monday, the weather will be mostly cloudy from time to time with the possibility of isolated, mainly light, rains as well as light snowfall in the mountains and possibly in some semi-mountainous areas. By late afternoon the weather will become mostly clear with locally elevated overcast. Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and windward to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little turbulent both in the east and locally on the north and south coasts until turbulent. The temperature will rise to around 10 degrees in the interior, around 12 degrees on the coast and around 2 degrees in the higher mountains, where there will be frost.

Monday night the weather will be mostly clear with locally elevated overcast. Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast, weak and transient locally to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will generally be a little turbulent and on the east coast initially until turbulent.

On Tuesday the weather will initially be mostly clear, while by noon it will become mostly cloudy and local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected, as well as snow in the highlands.

On Wednesday and Thursday the weather will be mostly cloudy and, mainly from midday onwards, local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected, as well as snow in the highlands.

The temperature is not expected to change significantly until Wednesday and will rise slightly on Thursday, to be significantly below the average climatic values.

The height of the snow in Troodos Square, at the time of issue of the bulletin, was 41 centimetres.
