APPEAL FOR ITEMS FOR UKRAINIAN FAMILIES AND LINK FOR CASH DONATIONS

TLC APPEAL FOR ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR REFUGEES IN UKRAINE

TLC is a multi-national school and prides itself as a family community which is quick to step in to help others in need. As you can understand, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine affects many of our students and families here in school with many worried about their families, friends and countries.

You may have seen that communities across Cyprus are coming together to accept donations for refugees who have been forced to leave their homes because of the conflict. Many students have already asked if  TLC can support the collection of donations and as a school, we would like to add our support by becoming a collection point for donations of much needed items for the refugees. From tomorrow, we will have collection points at our Primary and Secondary schools for the receipt of donations of the items listed below.

Once a week, on a Tuesday, we will send the items collected as a school to Peyia Town Hall, a designated collection and transit point for donations.

Much needed items that may be donated include:

Non-perishable foods such as canned food, flour, dried legumes, pasta, rice, spices, soaps, protein bars (even some luxuries like coffee or tea might be good).

Disposable Nappies/Diapers

Wet wipes

Sleeping bags

Sleeping mats

Folding beds

Tents

Thermal wear

Safety Shoes

Torches

Batteries

Medical supplies such as: disinfectants, syrups for children, saline solution, bandages, dressings, plasters etc

TLC students and staff would like to thank you in advance for any help you can give whilst we all hope for a swift resolution to the conflict.

The above is a letter circulated from the Principal, David Lewis.

Supply donations can be taken directly to TLC School, in Peyia, or I will co-ordinate if you wish to leave items with me - Cathi - 99 143105

CASH DONATIONS

If you prefer to donate cash, there is the Ukraine fund run by DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) for which the website link is: https://www.dec.org.uk/ .  Donating is very straightforward by card or PayPal. Just open the site with the link, click on Donate from the menu at the top of the web home page, scroll down and follow the instructions. Donors will be sent a donation reference number and a thank you by email.

The Anglican Church based in Tala is helping the effort by cash donations to the above fund, although if they receive items from the TLC list, these will be passed to me for delivery to TLC.

If you would like to help, please note that items can be taken to

- TLC School, Peyia

Ring Cathi on 99 143105 - I will not be able to collect, but happy for people to leave items with me.
