2,812 NEW CASES, FOUR DEATHS - Saturday 12 March

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 12, 2022:

  • 4 deaths reported
  • They concern:
    • Woman, aged 98, who died on March 11
    • Man, aged 59, who died on March 12
    • Woman, aged 84, who died on March 12
    • Man, aged 81, who died on March 12
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 899.
  • 110 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 17 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of snorkel/5 intubated, PPE: 12)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 53.64%
  • 22 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 78,517 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 2,812 new cases were identified (total cases 350,688).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 3.58%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 3,324 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 272 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 8.18%
  • Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):
  • 75,193 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 2,540 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 3.38%

 Tracking:

  • 102 molecular tests were performed and 7 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.86%)
  • 916 rapid antigen tests were performed and 93 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 10.15%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,406 molecular tests were performed, 229 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 16.29%)
  • 42,302 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1,476 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.49%)

Through the programmes of the Ministry of Health, 32,891 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 1,064 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 31,378 rapid detection tests identified 952 positive cases (positivity rate 3.03%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 597 rapid antigen tests were performed, 19 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 3.18%)
