1,986 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Tuesday 1 March

One death and 1,986 new cases of COVID-19 were announced Tuesday by the Ministry of Health. The positivity rate stood at 1.94%, while 146 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in public hospitals.

The death involves an 82-year-old man died today, March 1.

Of the 146 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, 31 are in serious condition. Of these, one is hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator, 13 are intubated and 17 are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units. The percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination is 58.22%. Also, 19 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

As announced, a total of 102,159 diagnostic tests were performed and 1,986 new cases were identified, bringing the total number of cases to 324,502. The positivity rate in the total number of tests was 1.94%.

6,740 molecular tests (PCR) were performed, which resulted in 310 positive cases with a positivity rate of 4.6%.

Also, 95,419 rapid antigen tests were performed and 1,676 positive cases were found, with a positivity rate of 1.76%.

As part of the tracing, 418 rapid antigen tests were performed and 38 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 9.09%). Also, 613 rapid antigen tests were performed and 42 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 6.85%).

Following a private initiative, 1,566 molecular tests were performed and 196 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 12.52%). Also, 41,188 rapid antigen tests were performed and 1,052 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 2.55%).

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 54,231 rapid antigen tests were carried out. 624 positive cases were identified. At the sampling points, 14,660 rapid detection tests were performed and 392 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 2.67%)

Through the tests in Education, 21,054 rapid antigen tests were performed in Primary Education and 69 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.33%). In Secondary Education, 11,910 rapid detection tests were performed, 72 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 0.6%).

Through the Test-to-Stay program, 3,893 rapid antigen tests were performed in schools and 40 positive cases were identified (positivity rate of 1.03%).

In nursing homes, 1,084 rapid antigen tests were performed and 6 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 0.55%)

In closed structures, 175 rapid antigen tests were performed and 2 new cases were identified (positivity rate 1.14%).

In Government Agencies, 842 rapid antigen tests were performed and 1 positive case was identified (positivity rate of 0.12%)
