1,834 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS - Saturday 5 March

Another two deaths due to the coronavirus have been announced by the Ministry of Health, while another 1,834 new positive cases of the virus have been identified in the last 24 hours.

Specifically:

  • 2 deaths reported
  • They concern:
    • Woman, aged 77, who died on March 5
    • Woman, aged 78, who died on March 5
  • Total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19: 875.
  • 128 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC
  • 28 in serious condition (ICU: 1 off ventilator/12 intubated, PPE: 15)
  • Percentage of hospitalized patients without a history of vaccination: 54.69%
  • 17 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized intubated due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 91,348 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 1,834 new cases were identified (total cases 331,508).
  • Positivity rate in total exams 2.01%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 3,410 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 224 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 6.57%

Total number of rapid antigen tests (Rapid Test):

  • 87,938 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 1,610 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 1.83%

 Tracking:

  • 48 molecular tests were performed and 4 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 8.33%)
  • 753 rapid antigen tests were performed and 50 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.64%)

Private initiative:

  • 1,743 molecular tests were performed, 172 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 9.87%)
  • 52,769 rapid antigen tests were performed, 985 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.87%)

Through the health ministry's programs, 35,169 rapid antigen tests were performed. 625 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 33,839 rapid detection tests identified 574 positive cases (positivity rate 1.7%)

Other

  • Nursing homes: 577 rapid antigen tests were performed, 1 positive case detected (positivity rate 0.17%)
