THE NEW DECREE REGARDING MEASURES - IN FORCE FROM 24/2

The Decree of the Minister of Health was published on Wednesday, which will enter into force tomorrow, Thursday, February 24, at 10.00, in order to implement the changes approved by the Ministry in relation to the measures in force to deal with the coronavirus.

By decree, Regulation 30 of the Basic Decree is amended by deleting the second reservation and replacing it with the following new reservation: "It is also understood that, for catering establishments within hotels and for the holding of events in the premises governed by this Regulation, the provisions of Regulations 9 and 31 are complied with by analogy."

Replacement of Regulation 31 of the Basic Decree

Regulation 31 of the Basic Decree is deleted and replaced by the following new Regulation 31.

Specifically, the operation of catering establishments (restaurants, taverns, cafes, pubs, snack-bars and bars, cafes, restaurants within shopping centres, within hotels and tourist accommodation, canteens, as well as any other dining areas serving the public within other premises, and /or sports clubs, cultural groups, clubs, clubs, etc.), is governed by the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and with a maximum of 500 persons in total, either indoors or outdoors, in compliance with the distancing measures laid down in the health protocols and subject to the following conditions:

For catering establishments with a capacity of 150 persons or more, which include a dance floor, the following are observed: with demonstration for persons aged 12 years and over of a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen detection test for the COVID-19 disease, with sampling having been carried out within 15 hours, with demonstration, for persons aged 6 to 11 years; negative laboratory test (PCR) or rapid antigen detection test for COVID-19 disease, with sampling performed within 7 days: It is understood that, for persons under the age of 6 years, the demonstration of a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen detection test for COVID-19 disease is not required.

For all other catering establishments regardless of capacity, the following are observed: by presenting a valid certificate of integrated vaccination for the covid-19 disease, or a valid certificate of recovery from the covid-19 disease, or by showing, for persons aged 6 to 11 years, a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen detection test for the covid-19 disease, with the sampling having been carried out within 7 days, or by demonstration, for persons who cannot be vaccinated due to a medical problem, of the medical certificate issued by the Ministry of Health and a negative laboratory test (PCR) for the COVID-19 disease or a rapid antigen detection test for the COVID-19 disease with the sampling having been carried out within 7 days, or by demonstration, for persons aged 12 years and over, of a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen test for COVID-19 disease, with sampling carried out within 24 hours.

It is understood that, for persons under the age of 6 years, the demonstration of a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen detection test for the covid-19 disease is not required.

The maximum number of persons per table is twelve (12) persons, while for the conduct of events in the premises governed by this Regulation, the provisions of Regulation 9 are complied with.".

Replacement of Regulation 32 of the Basic Decree

Regulation 32 of the Basic Decree is deleted and replaced by the following new Regulation 32.

Specifically, the operation of nightclubs, banquet areas, including banquet areas within hotels and tourist accommodation, discotheques, nightclubs and music and dance venues, is governed by the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and with a maximum of 500 persons in total, either indoors or outdoors, in compliance with the distancing measures set out in the health protocols and subject to the following conditions:

For the premises governed by this Regulation, with a capacity of 150 persons or more, the following are observed: by showing for persons aged 12 years and over a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen detection test for the COVID-19 disease, with the sampling having been carried out within 15 hours, with demonstration, for persons aged 6 to 11 years, negative laboratory test (PCR) or rapid antigen detection test for COVID-19 disease, with sampling performed within 7 days.

For premises governed by this Regulation with a capacity of less than 150 persons, the following are observed: by presenting a valid certificate of integrated vaccination for the covid-19 disease, or a valid certificate of recovery from the covid-19 disease, or by showing, for persons aged 6 to 11 years, a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen detection test for the COVID-19 disease, with the sampling having been carried out within 7 days, or by demonstration, for persons who cannot be vaccinated due to a medical problem, of the medical certificate issued by the Ministry of Health and a negative laboratory test (PCR) for the COVID-19 disease or a rapid antigen detection test for the COVID-19 disease with the sampling having been carried out within 7 days, or by demonstration, for persons aged 12 years and over, of a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen test for COVID-19 disease, with sampling carried out within 24 hours.

It is understood that, for persons under the age of 6 years, the demonstration of a negative laboratory test (PCR) or a rapid antigen detection test for the covid-19 disease is not required.

Amendment of Regulation 83 of the Basic Decree

The second reservation of Regulation 83 of the Basic Decree is deleted and replaced with the following new reservation: "It is also understood that the controls falling under the provisions of Regulations 9, 10(2) and 11 are not carried out through the electronic application "CovScanCyprus"."

This Decree shall enter into force on February 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
