TALOS 2022 POSTPONED WITH FRENCH AIRCRAFT - PRE-SEASON FLIGHTS 10-13 FEBRUARY, WITH TALOS ON 14 FEBRUARY

The Ministry of Defence announces that the aeronautical exercise "TALOS 2022", which was scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday, February 11, 2022, with the participation of fighters of the French Air Force, is postponed.

The exercise has been rescheduled and will be held as normal next Monday, February 14.

From today until Sunday, February 13, flights will be performed in preparation for the exercise.

The training activity, which is part of the implementation of the defence cooperation programme between Cyprus and France, will take place in parts of the land and air space of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

From the French aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle, which is currently in the Mediterranean,  the French Rafale fighters will take off that are currently flying in the airspace of the Republic of Cyprus.

The aircraft carrier is expected to arrive at Limassol port by the end of February.

The flights of the French aircraft, from today until Sunday, are mainly aimed at controlling the air defence system of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as training the Personnel of the National Guard in real conditions.

As announced by the Ministry of Defence, the training activity, which is part of the implementation of the defence cooperation programme between Cyprus and France, takes place in parts of the land and air space of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

The flights operated are part of the preparation of the upcoming air exercise cyprus - France "TALOS/2022" concerning the virtual attack of targets by fighter aircraft and the reaction of the anti-aircraft systems of the National Guard.
