The reform of local government has as its primary objective the creation of financially robust municipalities which will be financially independent and above all viable in order to be able to achieve their objective, which is none other than to better serve and improve the quality of life of the citizen. Unfortunately, this objective of the reform has been circumvented by the parties, which, taking into account only party arithmetic and not mathematics through studies, proceed according to the data to 'party cooking' which will condemn the Akamas Municipality under incubation, in which Kissonerga will be an important partner, to economic decline.
This is what the president of the Community Council of Kissonerga, George Stylianou, argues in a statement, citing the rationale of his disagreement with this method.
"I challenge the MPs of Pafos, as well as the Member of Parliament for Ecologists, Mrs. Attalidou, to present the feasibility study of the Akamas Municipality on which they have based the proposal for the creation of this municipality and the rejection of the proposal for the creation of the Municipality of West Pafos, which is documented with a relevant feasibility study by technocrats", he says. "If there is no independent study by technocrats, which as far as I know does not exist, the above MPs will bear on a personal level important responsibilities for the 'party cooking' that will result in the decline of a large area of Pafos. Unfortunately, if there is no independent study, once again the MPs will prove to the citizens that as party soldiers they obey party calls, ignoring the interests of the Pafians who have honoured them with their vote.
Unfortunately, the party kitchens, once again, without taking into account the technocrats and the studies, and taking into account only their party interests, will once again lead our country to adventures with unforeseen consequences, says Mr. Stylianou, who throws back the gauntlet to the four Pafos MPs and the MEMBER of parliament of the ecologists, saying that they should make public the feasibility study, otherwise they will be irreparably exposed.
Note - according to rumour, if the Akamass Municipality goes ahead, it means that the Tala group will be composed of Tala, Tremithousa, Mesa Chorio, Mesoghi, and now Emba and Chlorakas. This seems to mean that the Akamas Municipality will have around 10,000 residents - compared to the 'Tala Village' composition of 20,000 residents which will remain a village group!
