4 YEAR OLD GIRL FOUND IN THE BUFFER ZONE - NOW THEY ARE LOOKING FOR HER TWIN SISTER

The discovery of a 4-year-old girl at dawn by United Nations men who spotted her lying alone in the buffer zone in Athienou takes an incredible turn.

The Cyprus Police were informed by the United Nations that the parents said they had lost her twin sibling in the same area. The parents are at the so-called Nicosia police station in the occupied territories, where they went to report the disappearance of their children.

According to the information received by the Cypriot authorities, the parents, who come from Pakistan, reported that in their attempt at dawn to pass through the buffer zone, from the occupied to the free areas, due to the darkness, they lost the two children.

The Cypriot authorities are in constant contact with the United Nations and expressed their readiness to contribute to the investigations. Investigations in the area are being carried out by the United Nations.

It is recalled that a little girl was spotted on patrol carried out by United Nations men, around 4 a.m. today.

The men of the United Nations transported the little girl to the Police Station of Athienou, members of which informed the Social Welfare Services about the incident.

The United Nations also informed the Mayor of Athienou, Kyriakos Kareklas, who alerted livestock breeders and farmers to search their premises, lest the child hide there.

The Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare was informed this morning about the location, by members of the United Nations, of an unaccompanied minor girl in an area of Athienou. The protocols of the Social Welfare Services were immediately activated and an Officer received the child, placing him under the protection of the Social Welfare Services.

The child is provided from the beginning with all care and care services, and all appropriate measures are taken to protect her, with the involvement of all competent professionals in the decision-making that concerns her.

The underage girl will remain under the responsibility and supervision of the Social Welfare Services for as long as necessary. The Social Welfare Services are in communication and coordination with the Cyprus Police and the other competent Authorities, making every effort to find solutions that meet the needs of the child, having at the core of their actions the safeguarding of his interest.
