In recent days, the Electronic Crime Subdivision of the Police has received many complaints about false and misleading posts on social media containing malicious software programs – viruses. There are two types of fraud as reported by the Police and the public, called to be careful.
a) Sending a message (mainly in Messenger) with misleading content for a relevant video that the recipient of the message is supposedly participating in.
b) Misleading posts on various social media and communication applications, related to false posting about successfully tackling Covid 19 in Mexico.
Both of the above cases are considered as malicious.
The public is urged to be particularly careful and avoid activating these posts since they contain viruses that have the ability to intercept personal data and passwords as well as the rapid spread of the virus among users.
It is also recommended to report and delete such posts from social media.
In case of activation of such a posting, it is recommended to immediately check and change the password of the account
