CROSSING POINTS - COVID REQUIREMENTS wef 24 January at 9am

The crossings from the barricades remain in the deep red due to the pandemic, and the measures that have been implemented are adjusted accordingly, with effect from Monday, January 24, the United Nations announced on Thursday.

A written statement attributed to the UN representative states that "based on the agreement of the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar, and the Greek Cypriot leader, Nicos Anastasiades, of June 2nd, the Technical Health Committee is continuously assessing the dynamic epidemiological situation and the measures to be implemented at the crossing points, as appropriate."

It is added that based on the Commission's assessment of 19 January 2022, the situation is determined to remain at Level 3 (deep red) and adapted measures will be implemented at all crossing points from Monday 24 January (9 a.m.).

Based on the new measures, a negative PCR or 7-day rapid test is required for people who have been fully vaccinated with the AstraZeneca, Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines 14 days after their 2nd dose.

The period of validity of these vaccines shall be deemed to be up to 7 months from the administration of the last dose of the initial vaccination or from the receipt of a booster vaccine.

Negative PCR or rapid 7 days is also required for people who have been fully vaccinated with the vaccines Sinovac, Sinopharm, Sputnik and Johnson&Johnson 14 days after their 2nd dose (1st dose in the case of Johnson&Johnson).

The period of validity for these vaccines shall be deemed to be up to 3 months from the administration of the last dose of the initial vaccination or from the receipt of a vaccine booster. The same applies to children between 5 and 11 years old, unvaccinated high school students and people residing in Kato Pyrgos.

A negative PCR of 72 hours or 48 hours rapid is required for unvaccinated individuals, aged 12 years and older, and vaccinated individuals who have not received a booster dose after the expiry of the vaccine's validity period, as described above.
