Massive and with a pulse was the protest rally that took place in the afternoon at the entrance of Chlorakas for the unbearable situation created by illegally staying foreigners in the community and the surrounding area.

The event was organized by the community authority, citizens' groups and institutions of Chlorakas, after the unprecedented incidents that took place last Tuesday night. With slogans such as "Out the illegals from Cyprus" and "Drive them out", the residents of Chlorakas and neighbouring communities demanded the implementation of the decrees that have already been issued and impose the non-installation of other foreigners in the community, but also the closure of a large building complex which houses without the necessary conditions hundreds of these foreigners.

The president of the community of Chlorakas, Nikolas Liasidis, stressed that he received from the Minister of Interior assurances that within 15 days these decrees will have been executed and that the situation will improve immediately in the region.

Similar direct actions of the state for the protection of the people of Chlorakas were also requested by the present MPs of Paphos, Charalambos Pazaros and Chrysanthos Savvidis.

The event was peaceful and ended without aberrations, but the commune of Chlorakas made it clear that the protests will escalate, should the commitments of the state prove to be verbal only. "We will not wait to mourn victims and derail the situation. We call for the decrees to be enforced and for ghetto-isation and delinquency in Chlorakas to be avoided," he stressed.
