Members of the Paphos police department went to the scene around 18:50 in the afternoon where they located the large number of people at the scene. When the members of the force approached them they were stoned. Members of the force fired warning shots into the air to disperse them. Personnel and anti-riot team headed by Paphos police director Nikos Tsapis were called to the scene.

With the arrival of the reinforcements, however, the upset had beed defused. Subsequently, patrols were carried out in the area and persons and vehicles were stopped. As part of the checks, a 24-year-old man was found in possession of a knife and arrested for stabbing. The Paphos Police are also investigating whether he is involved in the incidents.

Also, members of the Paphos police department nearby spotted a car that was overturned and damaged.

After further examinations, the owner of the vehicle was found, who reported to the Police that a number of persons holding wood and other offensive objects, while he was driving himself with his car in the area, moved threateningly against him, intercepting him. They also caused damage to the vehicle and then he fled.

Moreover, the President of the K.S. Chlorakas Nikolas Liasidis, in his statements to the CNA, called on the President of the Republic to intervene in order to close the complex that, as he said, "operates illegally and in which 500-600 people live, some of whom are political asylum seekers". Today, he said, "with the episodes unfortunately we experienced moments of terror with all the negatives with consequences."

Mr. Liasidis said that for this complex a relevant decree has been issued by the Prefect of Paphos to close.

The examinations are investigated by the Paphos I.E.

New incidents broke out in Paphos between groups of foreigners, chasing and beating the streets, while gunshots are also heard, resulting in a strong force of the MMAD from the Police Headquarters to assist the work of the forces of the Paphos Police Department in Chlorakas.

The serious incidents began for an as yet unknown reason, but police sources refer to factions of foreigners involved in drug trafficking. A large number of people took to the streets for hours, attacked a house of a Syrian resident, and attacked the police forces who rushed to the area to enforce order, throwing stones and other objects at the members of the force.

Chlorakas is already reminiscent of a war zone, with local residents being under turmoil demanding from the Government and the competent services immediate and practical measures to remove the situation they are experiencing, as they have been systematically denouncing in recent years.

The incidents between groups of foreigners and the police operation to impose order, continuing until the early hours, creating an unsettled climate throughout the western peri-urban area of Paphos.
