5.2 RICHTER EARTHQUAKE SHOOK CYPRUS AT DAWN

The 5.2 Richter earthquake that occurred at dawn in western Turkey was also felt in Cyprus.

According to what is transmitted by the Euro-Median Institute, the earthquake west of Turkey and the occupied areas in the northern part of Cyprus, had a focal depth of 69 kilometres with an epicentre near Antalya.

In an announcement, the Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announced that today, Wednesday, 05/01/2022 and local time 05:21 was recorded by the seismological network of the Department of earthquake of magnitude M = 5.3 on the Richter scale.

He notes that the earthquake had its epicentre in the sea area 160 km north-west of Polis Chrysochous and a focal depth of 80 km. It was slightly felt in many areas of Cyprus.
