Three deaths, with the final cause of COVID-19, which occurred between January 9 and 20, were announced today by the Ministry of Health, bringing the total number of deaths to 703.
242 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 84 are in serious condition. 70.67% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
18 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
2,192 (positivity rate: 2.06%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified from 106,444 molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 232,161 based on the National Report.
It is worth noting that another 13 cases were detected in nursing homes and 125 in schools.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 3 deaths announced with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- Woman, aged 86, who died on January 19th at the Limassol General Hospital.
- A man, aged 85, who died on January 20th at the Limassol General Hospital.
- A man, aged 73, who died on January 9th at the Limassol General Hospital.
As a result, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 703, of which:
- 442 men (62.9%), and
- 261 women (37.1%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 76 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 242 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 84 are in serious condition or in conditions of PPE.
Of the 84 patients who are in serious condition, 33 are intubated, 5 are hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator and 46 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 106,444 diagnoses performed, 6,557 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 99,887 by the antigen rapid test method, 2192 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 53 cases from 553 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 23 cases from 1,855 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 323 cases out of 3,768 samples were taken through private initiative.
- 33 cases from 324 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1,176 cases from 50,564 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 585 cases from 49,323 samples tested by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health's program.
- 3 cases from 72 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
