Six deaths with a final cause of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health announced with the total number of deaths standing at 709. At the same time, 1,984 (positivity rate: 2.41%) of new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 234,145.
Also 240 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 79 are in serious condition. 73.34% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination. 21 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit. A total of 82,187 disease detection tests have been performed using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 6 deaths announced with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- A man, aged 66, who died on January 21st in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 90, who died on January 21st at Paphos General Hospital.
- A man, aged 72, who died on January 21st at the Limassol General Hospital.
- A man, aged 66, who died on January 22nd in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Woman aged 89 years, who died on 22 January at Nicosia General Hospital
- Man, aged 86, who died on January 22nd at the Limassol General Hospital.
As a result, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 709, of which:
- 447 men (63%), and
- 262 women (37%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 76 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 240 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 79 are in serious condition or in conditions of PPE.
Of the 79 patients who are in serious condition, 27 are intubated, 4 are hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit off the ventilator and 48 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 82,187 diagnoses performed, 6,229 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 75,958 by the antigen rapid test method, 1,984 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 7 cases from 70 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 32 cases from 2,172 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 345 cases from 3,723 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 14 cases from 232 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 926 cases from 43,328 samples examined by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 660 cases from 32,630 samples examined by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health's program.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 0 cases from 32 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
