The vandalism of school buildings, on the occasion of the decision to use masks by primary school children, also reached Paphos. As yet unknown assailants entered the 11th Primary School of Agios Spyridon, in the "Universal" area of Paphos, in the evening, and spray-painted slogans on walls, floors and windows of the building, which are heard these days at the protests of protesters for the measure of masks in primary schools.
Among those listed were slogans such as "No to masks to our children" and "Freedom or death."
The action of the night walkers was noticed in the morning when members of the school's staff arrived there and immediately informed the Police. These actions were condemned by representatives of organized parents and the educational community, while the Police began investigations to reveal the identity of the perpetrators.
The vandalism caused by strangers last night at the IA Primary School of Agios Spyridonas, Pafos, is condemned by the First Officer of Primary Education at the Ministry of Education in Paphos.
Invited to comment on the aberrations, the First Minister of Primary Education Dimitris Mikellidis that in the District Office of Primary Education these actions cause great regret.
Mr. Mikellidis said that the damage relate to a clear case of vandalism, noting that the images cause grief and shame to any reasonable person who loves democracy and respects this country.
He added that it is clear to target these extreme behaviours, noting that such actions are intended to create an anomaly in the operation of a particular school and in schools in general, simply, "so that a deplorable minority can pass its own, against logic and science, but also against the coordinate sets of this state".
Such actions, he noted, have been condemned in the conscience of the average Cypriot citizen and have been condemned by both the State and the organized bodies, teachers and so on.
He also said that schools will continue to operate normally and that they will not allow the extremists to create these kinds of situations.
