QUESTIONS REMAIN ABOUT MOTIVE - ACCOMPLICE SOUGHT

Filenews 7 December 2021 - by Ioanna Mantzipa

Society is shocked to see the developments surrounding the brutal murder of the two women, Khaiat Alraeesi, 43, from Syria, with Russian citizenship and Mariia Gazibagandova, 33, from Russia, following the confession of the 32-year-old Syrian and the identification of their bodies. Unanswered questions arise around the case, with investigators continuing their thorough investigation of the case.

Authorities may consider the case solved in relation to the commission of the murders and the instigator, but to date the allegations made by the 32-year-old assailant in his wilful testimony do not convince investigators of either the motive or the way he killed and buried the two women.

The Police appear not to be convinced as to the exact motive of the perpetrator, as well as to the role played by the two Syrian workers whom he said they accidentally found in Limassol, transferred them to the country house where they helped him with a jackhammer to make a pit two meters deep, which he then turned into a grave for the two unfortunate women.

His claim that he heard the two Russian women speaking in Arabic, mocking him and laughing because they took the money from him, does not convince him that this is the reason he murdered them. Questions also arise about the timing of the double murder. The perpetrator, as he wrote in yesterday's article, "F", places the murders around 7 a.m. on November 17 when he returned from hunting at the cottage. And this is where the question arises as to why and how the two girls woke up so early and had even sat outside in the yard, so cold and wearing thin clothes.

Questions arise about the traces of blood found in the country house as well as the way he transported the two women from the ground floor to the basement and from there to the point where he buried them.

Looking for an accomplice

Investigators of the Limassol IWU continue to set up the puzzle of the case, leaving open the possibility that the 32-year-old had an accomplice during the commission of the murders and the burial of the two victims.

In the hands of investigators is a CCTV footage that records a person lying in the 32-year-old's vehicle, in the passenger seat on his return from the country house in Kato Amiantos to Limassol.

The 32-year-old in his confession and asked about this person, said that it was a stranger who was hitchhiking and he took him to Limassol.

They are looking for Syrian workers

In addition to the unknown person inside the 32-year-old's vehicle, investigators are also looking for both Syrians whom the 32-year-old said accidentally found in Limassol and helped him with a compressor to remove the pit two meters deep. As he claimed, the two persons did not know that this pit would be turned into a tomb.

In the cell for 7 days the 23-year-old

As far as the 23-year-old is concerned, who was initially wanted in the case by the Larnaka IRS, as it is known, he was released as there was no involvement in the case. The 23-year-old, however, was re-arrested by the Limassol IRS investigators for cases of thefts and burglaries.

Yesterday he was brought before the District Court of Limassol, which ordered his detention for a period of seven days.

Autopsies: Gunshots hit vital organs

More than 8 hours lasted the autopsies on the remains of the two victims of the double murder and were completed around 21.00 yesterday by the coroners Angeliki Papetta and Orthodox

Orthodox. According to the findings, the 33-year-old's death was caused by a traumatic lung rupture caused by a firearm.

As far as the 43-year-old is concerned, the causes of her death are attributed to multiple ruptures of vital organs (lung, liver and heart) which were also caused by a firearm.

Closed due to religion and personal data

The 32-year-old assailant, after being re-arrested by the investigators of the Limassol IAU in connection with the offence of premeditated murder, was brought before the Limassol District Court yesterday for a request for his detention.

Bent over, glum, he sat in the back of the courtroom where he waited for the proceedings to begin. Next to him, two of his relatives. Shortly before the start of the proceedings, the 32-year-old's defence counsel requested from the court that the detention process of her client be conducted behind closed doors. "There is a request on the part of the suspect that the proceedings be conducted behind closed doors. I have been informed that in the application there are issues relating to personal data concerning the suspect's religion and which are linked to references to the facts. There are also issues concerning his personal and family circumstances," his lawyer, Katia Pieroudi, told the court.

The judge ordered that the proceedings be held behind closed doors taking into account the charges facing the 32-year-old and the fact that there is excessive publicity.

However, as "F" is informed, the police's request made no reference either to the 32-year-old's religious beliefs or to his family circumstances. It should be noted that the two detention request procedures of the 32-year-old, which took place at the Larnaca Court, were carried out normally.
