THE FINES FOR BUSINESSES WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THE DECREES

The fines imposed by the Police on those businessmen/owners of restaurants that violate the Infectious Diseases Law to prevent the spread of the virus in the community are heavy. However, from December 15th the workload of the members of the Police is expected to increase, as following a decision of the Council of Ministers, in the measures to contain the virus, in addition, the measure prohibiting the entry of unvaccinated persons, in restaurants, indoor and outdoor stadiums, theatres, amphitheatres, cinemas, showrooms, nightclubs, discotheques, music and dance venues and dining areas (including dining areas in shopping malls) is added. As stated in a relevant article of "F", the Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipantelas, is expected at today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, to put on the table the proposal to prohibit entry to unvaccinated at weddings and christenings.

Both citizens visiting the places where the measures are imposed and the owners of these sites should respectfully observe the measures as the penalties are heavy. For citizens who are identified without a Safe Pass, a fine of €300 is imposed. At the same time, for owners of restaurants and gathering places, who allow entry to citizens who do not present a Safe Pass, fines are determined based on the square metres of space.

In particular, in businesses or places where an economic activity is carried out in relation to goods or services with a useful customer service area, the imposition of fines is determined as follows:

⦁ 50 sq.m. fine €500

⦁ 51 sq.m. up to 100 sq.m. fine of €750

⦁ 101 sq.m. up to 200 sq.m. fine of €1,500

⦁ 201 sq.m. up to 500 sq.m. fine of €4,000

⦁ 501 sq.m. and above fine of €8,000

In fact, according to the decree, in case a premises is denounced for a second or even for a subsequent infringement, the fine is double the initial amount determined by the decree. At the same time, as provided for in the decree, the Chief of Police may order a member of the Police to issue to the owner of the business "Prohibition Notice", which is directly applicable, and which prohibits its use for a period specified in the notice and may not exceed five days.
