Intervention, yesterday, of the Ministry of Finance to the Parliament to prevent the "crucifixion" (commitment, so as to require the subsequent approval of the Parliament to release money) or even the cutting of specific funds related to the purchase of services, studies and cooperation with experts, for which the state has contractual obligations.
As "F" is informed, the ministry sent to the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance a list of 11 obligations-expenses, which it asks to be excluded from the commitments or reductions of funds that the parties intend to bring about. Nine of the eleven funds concern contractual obligations of the Ministry of Transport, one of the Ministry of Agriculture and one of the Deputy Ministry of Innovation.
In detail, the funds requested by the Ministry of Finance to be excluded from the... clipping of the majority, is:
• Purchase of services on behalf of the Deputy Ministry of Innovation, amounting to €1.5 million. This is the costs for the Digital Services Factory and includes a cooperation contract with the UK Government Digital Service (Government Agency). The project is co-funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
• Payments of €30,000 for contracts on behalf of the Ministry of Transport. The expenses relate to obligations arising from the Concessions of the Limassol Port, in relation to officially invited by the Republic ships / vessels (Invited navy).
• Payment of expert rights of €205,000. The funds concern the provision of services for the control and revision of charges for the ports of Limassol and Larnaca, as well as obligations arising from the project of development of the port and marina of Larnaca.
• Purchase of services €1.3 million by the Digital Security Authority for services to the Public Service.
• Purchase of services of €9 million. by Cyta for telecommunication facilities and maintenance of the radar.
• Licence fees for the provision of universal postal services amounting to €400,000. These are authorization fees to the SENECET.
• Transportation and processing of domestic mail at a cost of €700,000.
• Expenses for the daily transportation of mail abroad via air flights € 1.3 million.
• Purchase of services of €420,000 on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture. These are meteorological radar services for the meteorological survey of the Nicosia Flight Control Area (FIR), in order to issue the appropriate aeronautical weather forecast, as well as any significant weather warnings, which, potentially, may affect the safety of flights.
During yesterday's session of the House Finance Committee, the parties did not take a decision on the ministry's request, which will be considered in the coming days.
