In the Cardiology Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital, a modern clinic for the treatment of valvular diseases has been developed, which is constantly being upgraded both in equipment and services, the Organization of State Health Services (CYSO) said in a statement today.
The main advantages of the Cardiology Clinic, he notes, are its highly trained medical staff, but also the excellent nursing, technical and paramedical staff, as well as the large volume of cases, which can be successfully handled, maintaining consistently low rates of complications and cardiac mortality.
These results, adds the CySEC, are the result of the hard effort and the excellent cooperation of the Cardiology Clinic with the Clinics of Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Anaesthesiology of the Nicosia General Hospital.
He further mentions that in the Cardiology Clinic of the General Hospital of Nicosia, important research work is also being carried out, with publications in authoritative international cardiology journals, making it the Reference Center for Valvular Diseases.
It is noted that valvular diseases are a big chapter in cardiology, since they afflict a large number of patients. It is estimated that more than 0.2% of the population of Europe suffers from valvular diseases, while in Cyprus the number of patients exceeds 2,000 people today.
In the meantime, a workshop on "Valvidopathies – Nicosia Valves 2021" was successfully held on Saturday, December 4th, organized by the Cardiology Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital, under the auspices of the Cyprus Society of Cardiology and the Pancyprian Medical Association.
The workshop was attended by doctors of the Clinic, the private sector as well as doctors specializing in valvular diseases from Greece, Great Britain and America and during the conference there was a mutual briefing on the modern treatment of the disease, as well as the rapid development in this field.
In his address, the Executive General Director of the CySEC, Christos Loizides, stated, among other things, that "the importance of the continuous enlightenment and training of doctors in techniques and treatments is an indisputable tool in the qualitative upgrading of health services to citizens".
"Our Organization, along with the health services it offers daily to the citizens of Cyprus, invests in infrastructure, human resources and research, aiming at the continuous upgrading of its services," he added.
