DR KOSTIS -SEVERE SYMPTOMS APPEAR ON THE 7th or 8th DAY

 Filenews 15 December 2021

The new profile of the covid patient was outlined by Dr Andreas Kostis, head of the covid ward at the Limassol hospital, speaking on the AGENDA show on ACTIVE. "The number of COVID patients requiring hospitalization is changing, the severity of the condition is changing, and the age changes.

We now see more elderly patients with multiple conditions and more severe symptoms. Many of them are unvaccinated, now only 20% of covid patients are vaccinated. Now things are more difficult." Asked to describe the symptoms, the doctor said that: "On the seventh to eighth day, heavy symptoms appear from the moment the patient is diagnosed positive.

We should immediately run to the hospital if we feel low satiety, shortness of breath, difficulties breathing mainly in effort, not at rest, the intense dry cough, multiple vomiting and diarrhea, fever that extends beyond 4-5 days. Especially if  they are unvaccinated." Many times patients are released on the tenth day with a message and this is where the symptoms manifest themselves. Omikron shows that it is getting worse more slowly, noted Mr. Kostis, recommending a lot of caution, vaccination and prophylaxis as we know.
